To honor the New York City Marathon runners, we created 500 miniature, lifelike 3D statues of actual marathoners.
Before delivering the statues, we hired photographers to shoot each one in front of key landmarks along the marathon course. On race day, we put RFID tracks near those landmarks that triggered automatic Facebook posts on behalf of runners in real-time.
We even created a Times Square billboard that displayed each marathoner's miniature statue by texting in a secret code.
Finally, due to popular demand, we created a tweet-powered marathon (what is a tweet-powered marathon? Tweet-powered competition?) to award an additional 50 statues to runners who missed out on the first batch.
